Three colophons, two dated autumn 1945, the last one dated spring 1948. All thank Mister Menghe to have shown the scroll to them.
From an old southern German private collection, acquired between 1970 and 2002
A myriad of flowers is presented on the eight meter long scroll. They are painted without contour lines in the so called ‘boneless’ manner only with lavis of bright colors. It is the beautiful naturalistic style of the classic master of flower painting in the seventeenth century, Yun Shouping, as is stated in the signature of the painter. The scroll begins with narcissus, then peach blossoms, magnolias, lotus flowers and uncounted other species follow. A large peony in bright pink is one of the highlights near the center of the scroll. It is a rare example of flower painting in this classic style in the first half of the twentieth century and is in very good condition
